The UK achieved this high ranking due to its high international internet bandwidth capacity, data center resilience, political stability and ease of doing business. The UK data center market is currently estimated to be the second biggest in the world after the West Coast, USA. London is acting as the key data center hub accounting for 49% of the total UK data center footprint.

The Telehouse London data centers have become the site for Europe's first carrier-neutral colocation facility, the home to the London Internet Exchange (LINX), as well as a backbone for the global internet network. Today, Telehouse operates 4 data centers in London – 3 at its Docklands campus in East London consisting of Telehouse North (opened 1990), Telehouse East (opened 1999) and Telehouse West (opened 2010) as well as Telehouse Metro (opened 1997) located near Silicon Roundabout in the City of London. Together with KDDI Europe, Telehouse can provide end-to-end ICT solutions including managed services, integrated communications services, virtualisation services, content management and system security services as well as disaster recovery services on the same site.

When TELEHOUSE North was opened in 1990, there were only 2 carriers available. Today TELEHOUSE London customers can connect to over 400 carriers, ISPs and ASPs which can be interconnected to any of the buildings via dark fiber. The close proximity to the City and Canary Wharf makes TELEHOUSE the best low latency point, ideal for trading exchanges and mission-critical applications.
TELEHOUSE is the only company in the UK that operates a private dual primary substation (N+N) connected at 132kV to supplier authority lines. The substation is located at its London Docklands campus and encompasses a total capacity of 50MVA with cooling and two 132kV power lines directly connected to the National Grid reducing transmission losses. As power and electrical shortages have been an increasing concern in London the primary substation future-proofs the TELEHOUSE business and secures enough power to serve its fast-growing customer base.
TELEHOUSE London data centers meet the highest levels of building security, including constant security by trained security staff 24x7, electronic access management, proximity access control systems and CCTV. Its London Docklands campus is monitored 24/7 by 441 cameras onsite. All London customers are offered a 24/7 support function and access to their IT equipment at any time 24/7 by 365 days a year.
